Fineline Product Usage & Roofing Overview 1
Currently, and for the past 30 years, Fineline Distributors have packed and distributed high quality acrylic paint, in small container/applicator bottles, to metal roof and wall cladding manufacturers and installers throughout New Zealand, in carefully matched colours.
These have commonly been referred to as (Touch-up paint), since they are available with an integrated application brush in the cap, and lend themselves to the task of colouring fastenings such as , rivets and screws, to match Pre-painted metal products that are commonly used in metal Roof & Wall Cladding, Fascia & Gutter installlations, garage door and other metal fabricated buildings and fences. This term (Touch-up) is no longer the preferred name.
Therefore this product should be referred to as:-"Colour Matched Accessory Paint".
Since the primary use of this product is to colour match small accessories to Pre-painted metal cladding.
It is not intended to be a "First Aid" application, to disguise or cover up damaged prepainted material.
However, it is the nature of our industry, which involves us in fabricating from pre-painted metal, then exposing the finished product to foot traffic that can result in scratches and other minor blemishes on metal cladding, that can offend the eye.
I have often been asked to comment on, and provide some basic guidance on the use of our product in remedial work, wich may involve, painting over superficial scatches on exterior metal cladding, and whether it will compromise the cladding product, or coating performance.
I can give some in depth insite into this, as a result of over 30 years experience in the Roofing Industry, including 13 years with Coil Coating pre-painted metal: both technical sales & extensive involvement in dealing with specification, product testing and warranty inspections. 5 years Marketing and Technical manager with a leading roll former/ roof cladding manufacturer. A further 5 years as an independant Metal cladding Consultant, involved inproduct testing and evaluation of roof claddding products. 4 years as executive member (Technical committee) of the Roofing Assosiation of NZ. and 7 years as executive member on the Technical Committee, NZ Metal Roofing Manufacturers inc. where I was able to contribute ( with other members) to the NZ Metal Roofing Code of Practice.
